Forever is an opera album recorded between 1995 and 1997. Neil completed the full arrangements and recordings before soprano Liz Ferrie added her final vocal performances, bringing the work to its conclusion.

An intense and demanding project, Forever was recorded using the traditional 24-track analogue method, a process Neil believes gave the album its depth, warmth, and richness of sound. He poured everything into its creation and remains deeply proud of the final result.

Originally conceived as a short EP of two or three tracks titled You Hold Me Forever, the project grew organically into a full ten-track album. Neil loved the original title and kept it as the album’s name. Forever was released in the summer of 1997 by Virgin Records.

This remains a particularly special album for Neil. As he often says, “it will never age, unlike popular music.” Even now, listening back leaves him emotionally and creatively exhausted- a reminder of the intensity, imagination, and personal sacrifice required to bring it to life.

Neil’s favourite tracks from this duet album are You Hold Me Forever, The Fallen Rose, and I Need to Be Strong.
